Buck freezes. Eyes going wide as saucers.
Eddie pulls back just enough to breathe. “Didn’t you just hear me?”
Buck stares at him, stunned. “Hear what?”

Buck blinked up at him before starting to chew faster, like he was worried Eddie was just gonna yoink the piece he was already eating away. “No I’m not.”
“Buck, is your tongue tingling again?”
“...No.””

“Right,” Eddie nods, crossing his arms over his chest, “so can I see him?” And Ravi has no idea where this is going but he’s here for the confidence exuding from Eddie right now.
The doctor shoots him a quizzical look, head tilting to the side. “I’m sorry, who are you?”
Eddie does that little eye roll of his that he thinks is subtle but, honestly, really isn’t. And then states, in a voice completely serious and unwavering, “I’m his husband.”

Hen nods and says, quietly, “lay off the kid, Chimney.”
Chimney raises placating hands up in defense. “What? I just meant that–”
“Honestly, Chim,” Eddie starts. He pushes his chair back and stands up, and he ignores the tug at his shirtsleeve when Buck pleadingly pulls at it. “I’m kind of sick of you berating Buck.”
Buck is a grown man, sure, but Eddie knows that he’ll never stand up for himself. Especially when it comes to family.

Chimney makes another snarky comment, and Eddie breaks. Then, Eddie tells Buck just how loved he is.
