Summary
The team have left Midgar and are now beginning their wider journey through Gaia. In the aftermath of what has happened so far, Cloud confesses his feelings to a shocked Aerith. But what about Zack? Before Cloud reached Midgar, Cloud and Zack trekked through the surrounding badlands to get there. Why did they have to part ways? Despite this, Zack eventually meets up with the team – and a Cloud that doesn’t remember him (at least not at first). Once they’re all together, though, Cloud, Aerith, and Zack, bring these deep interconnections to the table. Meanwhile, Sephiroth sets his plans into motion as the team does their best to stop him and save the world.

Summary
The sickness had already wasted Cloud’s mother away to nearly nothing, and Cloud knew the illness had already settled in his own lungs. It might have been easier for Cloud to burn alive with his mother when the villages came to purge the illness from their mountain.
But Cloud’s unchanging friend Zack would never have allowed it.
