Summary

With Lady Stark unavailable to mediate her children's engagements, as she is busy burying her sister in the Vale, Ned Stark allows himself to be persuaded to agree to these two unions.He follows the king south as his first knight, accompanied by Arya and Robb, leaving the North in the hands of Sansa, now on the threshold of adulthood and ready to take command.Across the narrow sea, Daenerys gives birth to her first child. Her unstable brother, seeing himself becoming increasingly powerless compared to his sister, chooses to flee. But he does not leave empty-handed, managing to recover at least two of the three eggs that Illyrio had given to Daenerys as a wedding gift. He immediately sells the eggs for ships. Now the two lost eggs travel until they end up in the hands of two particularly dangerous men the imp Tyrion and Prince Oberyn.
