A moment passes before you smile, wide and broad and earnest; it feels unfamiliar on your face. Then, you hold out your hand for him to shake, grinning ear-to-ear. “It's wonderful to finally meet you, Boothill.”
He blinks at you for a moment, then laughs, bright and loud. “Oh, you're a funny one, huh?” Without fuss, he clasps your hand in his, giving it a firm shake; the cool metal of his palm is strangely pleasant against your skin. “The pleasure’s all mine, miss. Heard you've got a pest problem?”
“Oh, more than just a problem,” you say, your smile sharpening into something dangerous. “It's a damn infestation.”
A lethal glint shines in his eyes. “Well, consider me your exterminator.”

I sighed. Annoyed because no, that wasn’t right either. It was difficult to describe what this feeling was. To explain something so complex that writing flowery explanations was all human beings and writers seemed interested in doing-
“Love.” He said softly. He placed a hand on my chestand pressed lightly on this one specific spot with his fingers. “Hurt here. Hurt here good. Love?”
I bit back tears and nodded. “Yes. The hurt here. That’s love.”Once you've climbed your way out of the underworld, monster with a kind heart in tow, what do you do? Well you make a life. You cook food for your new best friend, you hide him from the human's who could threaten to take him away and you watch TV. In my experience just like any relationship.
But what happens when that friendship begins to grow? When that monster begins to see things on TV that confuse him, things he wants to try with you?
