Summary
Leorio huffed, face immediately contorting into something indignant. “Are you kidding me, Pika? You don’t answer my calls for over a year, and now you’re gonna act like you don’t even care that it hurt me?”
“I don’t care.”
“Don’t fucking lie like that,” Leorio snapped. He stepped forward.
Kurapika made no move.
“What, do you expect me to just forgive you, like I always have? Just wait around for you, like I always do? Well, I’m not going to, this time! I may have wanted you here, but don’t think it means anything between us.”
What a pathetic lie. “Why did you never stop calling me, then?”
The challenge flushed Leorio’s face deep red. “Be—because—because I still care! You’re my friend, Kurapika. I can wanna kill you without wanting you dead.”
Or, Leorio and Kurapika's reunion for the dark continent arc :)))

Summary
“In my experience, when someone won’t answer your texts, they don’t want to see you,” Zepile says in a sympathetic, self-satisfied voice that means “you’ll understand when you’re older.” Which is ridiculous because thirty is not so far from twenty-one, and Zepile doesn’t understand anything about Kurapika.
Irritation scrambles up Leorio’s throat on wooly legs. He glugs down his beer in an attempt to drown it. The beer is lukewarm and watery, but he can’t complain. It’s on a two-for-one special.
“Yeah, well, I don’t give a shit what Kurapika wants,” Leorio says. It comes out louder than he meant, and the bartender glances over at them with a raised eyebrow. Leorio’s face is warm in the faux-sunburn way it gets when he’s toeing the line between sober and tipsy. His tongue feels heavy in his mouth. “If he’s ghosting me, he’ll have to tell me so to my face.”

“Do you understand?” he growls, impatient, “Do you know what you’re doing?”
“I just appreciate you so much,” Kurapika says quietly, almost tepid even, but his blistering gaze smolders, burning and sparked with new interest.
Leorio swallows.
Because even Leorio’s kinks are wholesome af.
At first, anyway.*Updated as of 6/3 for grammar, fluidity, etc. so that it makes actual sense.*
