Summary
Adelia feels her life is ending.
Her father has whittled away the family fortune, leaving them destitute. Desperate to hold on to his lands and holdings, Adelia's father agrees to marry her off to a mysterious Baron for a large sum of money. Adelia has heard horrific tales of the Baron's monstrous nature and is beyond terrified at this arrangement but has no choice but to bend to the will of her father.
Adam Frankenstein is a recluse. He knows that people whisper about him, his refusal to make public appearances without donning a mask does nothing to quell the rumors. They say he is cursed, deformed, a monster, and perhaps this is true. He has been advised to take a wife, to solidify his influence in the High Society of Europe. He reluctantly agrees, if only to uphold the memory of his creator.
Married, but still strangers.
Will there be friendship or vitriol, romance or resentment?

UPDATED SUMMARY: Thirty minutes before her wedding, a gunshot forever changes Elizabeth Harlander's life, leaving the task of saving her up to The Creature and his Creator. Survival, however, has consequences.
In their desperation to save Elizabeth, Victor's younger brother has disappeared. Victor is certain that William could not have survived the blow to head, but a messenger sends word from Stirling, leading Victor into the path of someone unexpected and a past he never wanted to revisit.
Meanwhile, The Creature is tasked with caring for Elizabeth, who has been left injured in a way that Victor may not be able to fix. Struggling with her injuries and William's unknown fate, Elizabeth finds solace in a friend she never expected to see again.

He watched the women who all had the same name: Mother. He observed them caress the little humans that scampered about, wandering a brief distance before they returned to the sides of those bearing that wondrous name that seemed to mean life.
And then he thought of her again, of Elizabeth who was kindness and warmth and much like the mothers he studied and longed to know. -
