Mei checked her alarm clock. It was three in the morning.
But that didn’t really matter, not really. All she could think about was how endearing it was that Kiana was so excited to tell her about making harmless cookies. She even forgot to grumble to Kiana about the late hour.
“That’s amazing, Kiana,” she said honestly. Kiana’s smile grew that much brighter in the dark. Mei paused, mulling over Kiana’s words in her head. And then she asked, “Did you turn off the oven?"
Kiana’s smile dropped. “Oh.”
