Summary
Even drowning in evidence to the contrary, Simon's terrible fucked-up brain wants to believe in people, wants to believe they can change and care enough about him to do it, and so the cycle keeps churning. That’s the definition of stupidity, isn’t it? Doing the same thing over and over, expecting a new result. Feeling the same thing over and over again, knowing it won’t change anything.

Summary

Summary
It’s so surreal to see him standing here in the Palace, in the Royal apartments where Wille had grown up through all the good and the bad of his life. It’s an image he couldn't have imagined, not in the sheer unremarkable and yet truly remarkable way it feels in reality. Sure he’d conjured up images of him, ghosts of memories and fantasies tangled together in a love-sick teenager's ache of loss. However, this is him here, pragmatic and tangible and real and it’s just difficult to wrap his mind around it.
It feels like poetic justice in a way, the fact that he’s here in the very room that Wille had once been pressured to deny his importance. Because there’s no denying that now. Wilhelm had tried once already, to hide how he felt and it had ruined him, had sprouted cracks all along his surfaces as everything had run out of him like an egg, the yolk of his heart delicate and barely held together.
He wonders if Simon knows the significance of this place he’s standing in right now.

Summary
Simon hated going to his dad’s place alone.
It was a dark night – a curling mist hung over the path before him. Simon pushed through it, because he had to do this. He was strong, he had made a mistake and he was going to fix it. Because his family deserved to be protected and feel safe, and like he wasn’t going to betray them again.
So not even the stupid cold that scraped like a razor against his spine was going to make him turn back.
