There was no way to explain any of this. Had everything the day before been some horrible nightmare? The messages were dated as “today”, her phone displayed yesterday’s date, the yellow shirt her class had agreed on still lay folded neatly out with the skirt she’d worn yesterday. It felt like some sort of trick, but how would that make any sense?
The more it settled in, the more signs she saw that none of that could have been real, the more that horrible feeling inside of herself died down. It really was just… a dream. A horrible, cruel one, but didn’t that make sense? She had talked to Ena about telling her right before she’d slept, of course her brain had managed to come up with the worst case scenario.

The meal arrived, placed in front of Namgyu on a silver platter, perfectly presented, and he had to resist the urge to sweep it onto the floor, or slam his fist into the porcelain. He didn't deserve it, for one, but also, he didn't want to take anything offered by these faceless, nameless gods. He knew what this was. A final meal, celebrating the demise of everyone else, and a toast to whichever one of them was next to go.
It didn't taste like much. Objectively, he knew it was probably one of the best things he'd ever eat, reeking of wealth and needless indulgence, but his mouth was limp, tastebuds numbed like he'd burned his tongue. He could barely bring himself to chew, all the life drained out of him, but it didn't really matter. The meat practically melted in his mouth. He couldn't choke himself with it if he tried, and the thought made rage bubble up inside him. The sudden urge to slit his throat with the steak knife, to let himself bleed out on the pretty tablecloth, was horrifying, made him jolt upright, heart pounding. What had they done to him?Or, Thanos and Namgyu find themselves in the last game. Together.
