They were working outside of the village, because most of the other yetis still didn’t want to be around while Danny was practicing, because of the freezing incident. Incidents. Just a few– Well, there were more than a few.

Danny nodded and stood. He walked, wobbly, around the candles and stood in front of the archway. It wasn’t empty anymore. Danny could see a grassy shoreline beyond it, and a sky full of stars.
He turned back. Just for a moment. The room of candles looked like nothing so much as a field of stars. A field of stars Clockwork was very much part of.
Danny turned away and stepped through the arch.
And then he fell.

Danny's life had always been strange. Mostly because his parents were famous (and sort of crazy) folklorists who wholeheartedly believed the stories they studied. Partially because of their weird feud with Danny's favorite uncle, who spent most of his time traveling and always, without fail, visited Danny on his birthday.
Even so, it got a whole lot stranger on his fourteenth birthday. And not because his uncle finally followed through on his promise to take Danny traveling with him.

Out of theme, too, unless he was aiming for some kind of extended bedtime-based pun.
