Summary
Butterfly effect
/ˈbʌtəflʌɪ ɪˌfɛkt/
noun(In chaos theory) the phenomenon whereby a minute localized change in a complex system can have large effects elsewhere.
———
The war started suddenly, unexpectedly. No one was prepared for the destruction it brought with itself, the government declining any accusations that pointed at them as a cause.
Because it's always ghosts, right? They're not living, sentient beings; they can't think for themselves or make decisions (it's, after all, a human thing).
Batman has his own say in this but he can't do much when there's no proof, evidence. And then salvation comes in the form of a survivor – a teenager... Or does it?

Summary
Being human again sucks. This whole 'second chance' thing is more frustrating than anything.
Especially when certain 'all powerful' ghosts start asking you for favours to deal with other time headaches! It's not worth it. Maybe this whole thing was a mistake.
Yet apparently this other 'headache' knows a thing or two about being a useless, broken reflection of something better. For Invisobang 2025 with some amazing art by @cookietastic on tumblr

(This is a take on the portal accident where Sam and Tucker are not there and Danny copes alone after with added limitations as a result of the accident.)

Summary
Danny's (half) life has been going great. Greater than great, even. Ghost hunting is easier than ever, he's actually getting sleep, his grades are no longer in the toilet, and his parents aren't even trying to kill him anymore! What more could he ask for?
Well, probably to not get shipped off to a sketchy GiW lab for, quote, "Lot's of painful experiments".
But hey! He (they?) gets out in the end, so like all's well that ends well right?
...There's definitely nothing to worry about, I'm sure.

Summary
“Val, do it.” She recognizes the popping static of ghost speak. Danny raises his head and the pain in his eyes is gone, replaced with grim, angry determination.
She opens her mouth to respond, but he stops her.
“Don’t reply, just shoot me. If you do it, you’re free.”
He couldn’t survive this. Not unless there's something major he isn’t telling her.
And then she remembers there is.
//
Valerie and Danny are kidnapped by the GIW due to their anomalous ectoplasmic radiation readings. In the lab, they're put trough testing to determine whether or not they still count as human. Danny struggles with the cost of keeping his secrets to avoid hurting Valerie, while Valerie grapples with the real ramifications of her suit’s technology and how ghostly she's becoming. Summary
Ever since he was small, Danny's parents have always told him that the best way to identify a ghost is to spot their wings. All ghosts have insect-like wings; it’s the one part of them that they can’t transform or hide, no matter how good they are at shapeshifting.
Unfortunately for Danny, it turns out that half-ghosts are no exception. After he accidentally turns on his parents’ ghost portal while he's still inside it, he wakes up with a new pair of wings that don't go away, even when he's in human form. To hide what he’s become from his ghost-hunter parents and the world at large, Danny is forced to bind his wings to keep them out of sight.
Of course, it turns out that forcing a couple of limbs to be perpetually twisted out of shape and pinned against your body leads to constant agony, who could have guessed? But when the options are hiding his wings or letting his parents find out what he's become, what choice does Danny really have?

Summary
He’s an uncultured, offensive, overpowered ghost hunter (former, her mind quietly adds) that defends undeserving humans and prances around as the “protector of humanity” like he isn’t some brat in tights who knows nothing about her kind––
But he wants to.
The ghost opens her eyes slowly. Phantom avoids her gaze. He’s concerned, she senses with a wry smile. What a stupid, stupid kid.
(There’s a black hole in this boy that will consume him until there’s nothing left.)

"... And you are ready?”
Danny nodded, pressing his lips together at the sudden hot prickle of the threat of tears. “Yeah,” he breathed, relief loosening the bands of pain that had wound through every fiber of his soul. “I’m ready.”
She nodded, flicking her hand. The card dissolved into a wisp of smoke that dissipated into nothing. “Come, then,” she invited, sweeping aside the curtain. “Allow us to guide you on the next step in your soul’s journey.”
