Suguru turns on his stool and stares, heart all broken open. He’s too tipsy and filled with too much want, all spilling out from him, something no timed smoking break can contain. When did it ever? All his careful lies, all the rules he has lived by, tumble down inside him when he meets Gojo Satoru’s eyes again for the first time in almost two years. It feels like the first breath he has taken in a very very long time.
“Oh,” Suguru manages, vision swimming with cerulean and snow white, “there you are.”
Gojo smiles at him, smirks at him, and a crashing wave of sense memory washes over Suguru at the sight.
“Here I am.” Gojo agrees easily, slides onto the stool in front of Suguru, eyes gleaming. He doesn’t let go of Suguru’s hand, just plays with his fingers as he leans in close, a faint scent of amaretto and something citrus. “Now,” he murmurs, taps his foot against Suguru’s gently, “what are you going to do about it this time, hmm?”

“That so?” Suguru asks from his bed, lounging in a pair of sweats, his shirt hiked up. He scratches at his happy trail and glances over at Satoru. His demeanor changes instantly at whatever he sees on Satoru’s face. He swings his feet off his low bed, sitting up and leaning forward. “Satoru, what’s wrong?”
Satoru situates himself on the bed next to Suguru, crossing his legs and sitting so they’re facing each other. He meets Suguru’s eyes and cannot speak. Totally blank brain. Suguru touches his knee gently, probably about to say something helpful and kind like take your time or whatever you need.
For some reason, Satoru panics.
“I can’t come.” He announces, much louder than he needs to. “Unless I’m thinking about you.”

How long had it been since they stood across from each other, on the precipice of a divergence that would change the course of their lives forever? Suguru has a kill-on-sight order looming over his head — rightfully so.
But Satoru is beginning to realize that several things can be true at the same time:
1. Suguru is a murderer.
2. The world has not been kind or fair to either Geto Suguru or Gojo Satoru.
3. Satoru still misses him.The right and logical thing would be to turn Suguru away.
(Or: Suguru turns up on Satoru's doorstep 10 years after he walked away. Against better judgment, Satoru lets him in.)
