Buck side stepped Eddie and slowly corralled him back to the open door, throwing his frame around a little, “Tell them I’m sorry I missed it. I’m just gonna sleep it off.”
Eddie eyed him curiously, blinking as they ended up at the door, “Alright, I guess. If you’re still feeling sick, me and Chris can come over after, just hang out.”
If Buck could feel any more sick with himself, he would. He felt the bile rise up in his throat before he quickly swallowed it down, letting it sit inside his stomach while it inevitably burned him alive. Buck forced a half smile onto his face and nodded, ushering Eddie out the door.

Summary
Central City, California is beautiful, but it’s not where Johnny wants to be – and he’s not who he wants to be, either. Inspired by the recent return of Spider-Man, Johnny convinces the newly minted Fantastic Four to return to the Baxter Building, the site of the incident that gave them their powers. But not everything is what it seems, and worse yet, Spider-Man wants nothing to do with the Human Torch.

The Fantastic Four’s arrival only makes everything worse. The Human Torch is good looking, he’ll give him that much, but Peter has no plans of making friends. “Hey,” he says, and his voice is a little higher than Johnny expected, a little breathless. He pushes his glasses up. “Uh. You need a partner? Or- I mean, I need a partner. Obviously. That’s why I’m here. At this bench. With you. Not that you’re a last resort, I just- I was getting coffee, or I had a question about the junction rule, and then I realized I was supposed to be here, so I-” He stops himself, letting out a short, self-conscious laugh. “Hi. I’m Peter.”
He sticks out his hand, a smear of ink at the side of the thumb, nails bitten to the quick. The handshake is brief, a little too firm, and Peter’s palm is slightly calloused in a way that doesn’t quite match the scatterbrained exterior.
“Johnny,” he says, leaning his hip against the bench and crossing his arms. “You always this composed on the first day, or am I getting a special show?”
Johnny Storm, the only survivor of the space expedition, moves to New York. Running from the grief and the past, however, is made complicated by strange, unexplainable transformations and Peter Parker, a biophysics major harboring secrets of his own.
