Summary
Spock is twenty-eight years old and he is scared, scared in a primal way he could never admit but felt anyway and it ached somewhere deep inside him. Some void he had never filled but had to have been born with. Obvious to everyone but himself, a metaphorical target painted on his brow showing off his build and face and vulcan undertone. There is a part of him that realizes refusing to leave his quarters without makeup on is unhealthy and detrimental to his mental state, but it is a part that is easy to ignore on board a ship carrying over four-hundred humans.

It had only been a few months since Lan Xichen and Jiang Cheng had moved to the United States, stepping down from their inherited positions of power, letting go of family obligations that had held them rooted in place for too long, and finally making “selfish” decisions they both knew would lead to their own happiness. Only a few months since they both found jobs overseas, exchanged low-key but heartfelt vows with one another, and began their new life in a new country.
Father’s Day wasn’t unfamiliar to them, but without reason to celebrate, it wasn’t something they cared to give much thought to. Not until they had no choice but to face it.
