Summary
Gakushuu has always loved that humans are born with companion animals. Manifestations of their souls, that tend to reveal how they’re truly feeling.
He got himself a beautiful, elegant white cat, with the brightest of blue eyes. She struts around beside him and sometimes hitches a ride on his shoulders, but she exudes grace with her very being.
He names her Masami.
And Masami, the thing that has helped him through his fathers personality change, the very being that has kept him alive for so long, completely stabs him in the back by sprinting up to and rubbing against the fluffy black cat that belongs to Akabane Karma.
Something else their animals do. When they find the animal that is compatible with them, they know. Each animal has a specific partner, never more than one, and no interest in any other.
Which means, the people who those animals are connected to are soulmates.
