Summary
“You are worse than a dog in heat.”
The words have an immediate effect on him, his skin prickling with anticipation as his pants tighten, a short resonant growl building on the base of his throat. Jock barks, once, and Bill stares, wide eyed. A shudder shakes his slender body in a way that makes Jock want to bark, bite, claim. He opts against it, running the flat of his tongue over his teeth, relishing the attention, Bill’s posture mimicking a deer’s before the hunt, unafraid of the hounds.
“What does that make you, then, Billy?” Jock asks, taking a step forward.
Instead of pulling back, Bill faces him, shoulders square, gaze flinty. “Your handler.”Jock has never felt fully human since he was first deployed in the Western desert, too violent, too detached from the horror. Captain Fraser helps.

Summary
Here is one that got away and lived to tell the tale, from Karachi Social Club and Griffin Hotel, Wakefield nick and St. Mary’s Hostel, motorways and car parks, parks and toilets, idle rich and unemployed. From shit they sell and shit we buy, from kids with no mums and mums with no kid. From all dead meat and my dead friends, pubs and clubs, from gutters and stars, local tips and old slag heaps. From badgers and owls, wolves, and swans. Here is a son of Yorkshire. Here is one that got away.
After surviving for years in the North, Barry James Anderson tries better luck down South, somewhere where the sun shines brighter and the past won't find him. The sneaky thing about the past as BJ soon will find is that it always goes with you, no matter how light you pack.

Summary
“How can you do what we do and still read the Good Book, hm?”
Jim startles at the question, his sunglasses clattering onto the cream tiled floor. It takes no time for Pat to bend and pick them up, smiling with a self-assuredness he is only beginning to learn is acceptable while bare in the company of another man.
“I picked it up from where he fell,” Jim explains once his glasses are safe atop the table and his eyes have briefly lost interest in the warm body by his side. “Anything else would have been too evident, but his Bible—I just couldn’t…”
“Sergeant Almonds, committing an act of insubordination!” Pat feigns a gasp, allowing himself to plop on top of Jim’s crossed legs, his naked butt brushing against Jim’s strong thighs as the chair protests their combined weight in vain. “My, oh, my! Can’t even begin to imagine what Stirling would say.”They are granted five days of leave after Jock Lewes’ passing. Pat doesn’t think that’s long enough to grieve—or love.

Summary
John doesn’t usually frequent this kind of places, he doesn’t see the appeal, doesn’t need to save the money. He’d much rather spend some quid more and walk the extra couple of streets down to that quaint nook Ned likes, with the crunchy nachos and the really spicy salsa. John’s not there though, he’s sitting on the cold linoleum floor of the Taco Bell storeroom with a pretty boy sitting on his lap.

Summary
The cell is dark, humid and smells of piss. It’s the only smell that registers for the first three hours they spend inside, still panting, Sergeant Hegarty sporting in his eyes the steel of a man who knows he’s going to get shot. There’s still blood drying over his thick eyebrows, his glasses speckled with reddish dust John does not dare inspect from up close.
“We’re going to die here.”
One cell. Two soldiers. Thirty days with each other for company after a five day siege. Four walls. One window.

Summary
To watch a witch work was an intimate thing.
Orugio picked up the heavy book he had been reading and closed it with a soft sound. The air in the atelier kitchen was still and fresh, smelling faintly of soap. He stared, not even trying to hide his gaze. Qifrey wouldn’t have noticed him anyway.
