    Can a person truly mourn something they never had?

    Maomao had never liked her birthday.

    What significance could this event have had for her, if even on the day of her birth no one was waiting for her with love? Her mother greeted the newborn with revulsion, and her father didn't even know of the child's existence - he was immersed in his own affairs, in a world where there was no place for Maomao. And the madam merely grumbled, counting the cost of one more mouth to feed.

    Everyone had always been indifferent to her. Yet, strangely, it had never truly hurt Maomao. She simply didn't know how things could be different.

    This time, something was broken.
