“Hello again, Tallulah,” he whispered to the crouching figure hidden inside the cardboard.
A long few seconds passed before Tommy saw movement.
A girl, no older than eight, crawled partly out of her hiding spot to peer up at Wilbur, biting the inside of her cheek. Matted brown curls were pressed to her face, falling just past her chin as she tilted her head. A once-clean yellow sweater now adorned two holes along the arms and her jeans were covered in stains and tears. A small red ribbon was tied around her wrist, clean despite the smudges of mud covering her cheeks and neck.

Wilbur leans his head into his hand, watching Tommy pout with a near uncontrollable beam. “You're making more of a scene than me, sweetheart.”
Tommy shakes his head.
“Yes, darling, you are.” Wilbur strums his fingers on the table. “Are you embarrassed that I love you?”
Tommy doesn’t answer, tightening the arms over his chest.
“Oh, you are,” Wilbur softly exclaims in pure delight. He smirks, tapping his finger to his chin. “Well, whatever can I do about that?”
Tommy stiffly shrugs, still refusing to look at Wilbur.
Wilbur fondly sighs. “I think we’ll just have to get you used to it then, hm?”
Tommy pales as he sees the wide, mischievous grin of his brother.
