“You see Trance. Obelisk’s legs are in no condition to walk, or even move at all for that matter. He could even bleed out before you get him to the tower! That would be truly devastating.” Zephyrs slowly moved his head to gaze at Obelisk’s wound. His tongue clicked as if he was thinking of a plan to solve the issue.
“I have a solution, we have a healer right here don't we.” Zephyrs turned to address Tommy for the first time that night.
“How about you heal Obelisk and we can get to taking off those binds, hm?”

Tommy just dived into the deep end of pain. Tommy goes to school while maintaining a part-time job. Having to practically pay all the bills, finds out that one of his closest friends is a vigilante and he has the constant worry that his powers are going to lash out and kill someone. Top it all off with accidentally stumbling in on one of the Syndicate's plans. Tommy is fucked, isn't he?
At least he won't ever see them again.

"How's your flat?" Wilbur asks. "Still no luck with the heating?"
"You know I can't afford it." Tommy mutters, stirring a spoon around in his cup of coffee.
"I could help you with it." Wilbur offers.
Tommy politely shakes his head. "No, don't worry about it. I don't plan to stay here much longer."
The way he says it, he thinks, might set off alarm bells in Wilbur's head. (Tommy prays that it does, prays to Prime that Wilbur notices his tone, notices his exhaustion and just asks him to go with him. He prays that Wilbur will care just enough to do something about it.)
Wilbur doesn't make any comment about it.
(Something inside Tommy cracks at that. Maybe this is it.)

Tommy's only 16, he shouldn't have all of these responsibilities. His landlord is shit, he doesn't get paid enough to afford groceries and he's so fucking tired. He just wants someone to see his struggles, he wants someone to care for once.

Summary
Tommyinnit leads one of the worst double lives in history. After his parents death Tommy was quick to take care of himself, and soon his close friend as well. He became a vigilante because he was never able to have the same opportunities considering his financial condition. So as a remedy he gets a grant based internship with a highly respected corporation. The very corporation that helps with any legal work that heroes face, meaning Tommy is surrounded by the people trying to catch him for the better part of most days. His biggest issue now is for them to never find out, and to do the occasional coffee run.

I read a Hero fic with Tommy as a vigilante and fell in love with the idea.
