And now, he stood in their kitchen like a stranger, having to pretend be okay with the fact that Ilya went out and hooked up with Svetlana on a night meant to celebrate hockey's greatest. A party he wasn't even invited to as a captain himself.
He spent the entire day coming up with meticulous loopholes and justifications for something that was actually quite simple—nobody remembered. Shane was wholeheartedly forgotten and he was too proud, or maybe dense, to figure it out himself.
Or, the one where Ilya forgets Shane’s birthday. Coping ensues.

“The burger,” Shane clarifies, pointing to Ilya’s empty plate from where he’s sitting. “It’s plant-based. Like uhm.. vegetarian. No meat. It’s made from black beans, oats, and uhm.. Mushrooms” Shane doesn’t look at Ilya. He doesn’t even want to see the look on his face.
Ilya looks down at his empty plate. Then at the kitchen. Then back at Shane.
“You are telling me,” he starts slowly, voice deepening, “I just ate two not-meat burgers.”
“Ilya–”
“With Mushrooms? You said?” Ilya is nodding slowly as if it all is clicking into place.
“Yea” Shane lets out a small laugh.

Summary
Lily works in publishing, which could be considered a boring office job if her favourite colleague and best friend Remus Lupin wasn't waging a one-man war against modern technology. A war he was losing.
Unfortunately for him, every time something went wrong he had to call the IT department. And the IT person that always got sent down just to happened to be Sirius Black.
Rude, arrogant, and clearly with a low tolerance for technologically challenged colleagues, Sirius loathed Remus's guts.
Which was truly unfortunate since Remus has had a crush on Black for quite a while now.

The Marauders go on a Christmas holiday together during their third year of university. While on holiday, Sirius finds himself grappling with the newfound depth to his feelings for his friend, Remus Lupin, but is determined to not let his foolish heart get in the way of enjoying his time with friends. This plan goes off the rails when when an unexpected meeting at a Christmas market turns Sirius's life upside down once again.
