Summary
another strand of covid has presented itself, its worse, attacking not only the respiratory system- but spreading to your heart, making your heart attack itself. when internet goes out, Mars loses contact with Alex- his boyfriend, rushing him into a panic with not much he can do about it considering almost all of his family has been infected. his mother is a teacher, and his step-father is a hospital janitor- both exposed quite a lot. when they both die and Mars has spent weeks trying to contact Alex, he decides to journey out, with his brother, Mason. to not only find Alex, but his father. during the trek he has to avoid roads, for the government has gone on a spree of killing anyone they see in an attempt to contain it, which makes the trek far longer, cutting through a massive forest.

Summary
Jonah grows sick of his father, never doin' nothin' to help him, never properly naming him after his Ma died, just callin' him "Boy". He saddles up his Mare, Chance, and follows the murmurs of the townsfolk westward towards a farm, he aint sure which one but he's sure he'll find one eventually, he's heard there's plenty o' farms up west.
Eventually, he reaches a farm, he treks up the long path leadin' to the house, and knocks, an old man, maybe in his late 60's answers

Summary
An ancient, secretive cult raises a chosen "Heir", to undergo a brutal, sacred trial. where the heir is expected to abandon all attachment to anything, and anyone. But the thing is, he does not wish to do this. he does not see why the cult must be so..violent.
Not only does he want to keep his proper emotions, he wants to keep his memories, of the boy he fell in love with, of the boy who made him realize, that emotions were the only thing keeping him human.
Falling in love risks everything: his position, his life, hell, even his sister's life, and maybe even the survival of the cult, though he does not mind that last part.
Emotions are seen as weaknesses to the cult, they are what nearly ended humanity, and the cult sees themselves as the only people who did what was nessecary to survive. (even though if they left the district the cult runs and rules over, they would see, the other places are surviving, and thriving.)
