Summary
After decades of war, love, silence, and survival, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is still learning what it means to be seen—fully, painfully, tenderly—by the only man who ever looked past the legend. In the quiet aftermath of the mission, Iceman becomes the steady hand Pete never knew how to reach for.
Or, five times Iceman took care of Maverick, and the one time he returned the favor.

Summary
Sin. The word, heavy with the weight of decades of indoctrination, echoed in his mind. It was a familiar ghost, conjured by the slightest deviation from the narrow path his parents had laid out for him. Growing up, their house wasn’t a home so much as a temple, every corner steeped in austere piety. Love was conditional, a reward for conformity, for obedience, for being right. And being right, for Jake, meant being straight, being strong, being the man they expected him to be. Deviance, in any form, was met with icy disapproval, silent judgment that cut deeper than any shout.

Summary
The soft glow of the morning sun filtered through the blinds, painting stripes of warm light across the rumpled sheets. Jake stirred, a comfortable weight draped over his waist. He blinked, the remnants of a peaceful dream clinging to him, and then smiled, a genuine, unbidden curve of his lips. Bradley's arm was thrown possessively across him, his head buried in the pillow next to Jake's. A strand of Bradley’s dark hair tickled Jake’s nose, and he let out a soft sigh of contentment.
It had been months since that night on the beach, the night Jake had finally allowed himself to crumble, to lean on someone, to be held. The memory of Bradley's strong arms, the whispered apologies for "worse," still sent a shiver down his spine. It had been the turning point, the moment the carefully constructed walls around Jake Seresin had begun to crack and eventually, with Bradley’s persistent, gentle prodding, tumble down.

Summary
"Mav watches his fingers idly tapping on the tabletop. In the corner of his eye, he can vaguely see a slight movement that he knows isn't coming from anybody in the house.
“Dad,” Bradley says, getting Mav's attention.
“Hm?” He looks up at him, green eyes wide.
Dark blond eyebrows scrunch together. “You alright? Looked like you spaced out there for a minute.”
“Yeah.” He clears his throat. “Yeah, I'm just fine, Gosling.”"Or, Mav's been seeing the flyboys and Carole and his husband occasionally in odd spots around the house in the corner of his eye, even though they're all long gone. He finally tells Bradley when Bradley and Jake come to spend the day with him.
