“Eren’s coming back.”
Ymir’s first response is overwhelming relief, because whenever Krista wants to sit down and ‘talk’ about something serious, she’s usually done something wrong. So yeah, knowing she hasn’t done something to piss the shorter woman off is enough to inspire a long sigh of relief (which Krista is not amused by).
The second is, well – “Oh shit.”
So she’s the one that gets to tell Jean, huh.
OR ALTERNATIVELY: Jean and Eren were definitely A Thing in college (love was involved) but then Eren left on a journey around the world to expand his horizons and find himself. What happens when he returns home? Jean has spent a long time being heartbroken and wishing Eren would come back, but what's the reality? Are they really meant to be? JEAN/EREN. First chapter is Ymir POV, second is Jean POV.

Even on a great night like tonight, Jean is the literal definition of cranky, but that doesn't stop an overly-friendly Brit named Eren from trying to be his friend. Cue the shitty menthols, the Windex, and the almost-one-night-stand, and then a morning-after that offers more than either of them ever expected.

As Armin closes the camera, their friends are in the kitchen cutting into a cake that just says Congratulations. With so many things to celebrate, it's really the only appropriate thing.

Summary
Eren had his expectations, upon receiving his letter to Hogwarts, upon finding out that he was a wizard child born to two muggles without an ounce of wizard blood in the lineage. No matter how many mental images he painted up for himself, though, he wasn't mentally prepared for a life of magic after being raised to believe that it was nothing but a myth. He wasn't prepared for the friends he would make, for the impressions he would leave and receive.
Above all, he wasn't prepared for Jean Kirstein.
