Summary
Dexter had never feared another man the way he feared Isaak Sirko. It wasn’t fear of death. No, death had never particularly scared him, but the fear of losing control, of being known, of being seen. Isaak had a way of looking at him that unsettled him, as if he could peel back every layer Dexter had carefully build up over the years.
Their conflict had been inevitable, a clash between two men who lived in blood, one ready to revenge his partner and the other blindly following his own code. But what neither of them had anticipated was the moment when the rage slowly burned away and left something else open – recognition with the possibility of friendship and understanding.

Summary
Isaak Sirko was many things in his life, a mobster and killer, someone so highly respected among criminals that many chose a different path rather than to cross his. The Ukrainian man basically radiated authority, his suits and looks making him so easy to spot among crowds.
This man killed many people in his life, some so cruelly it left others present speechless. Not to mention the absolute skill and luck it took him to escape the bar brawl Dexter led him into.
And yet…
Here Dexter stands, hand gripping the door handle of his apartment, body halfway in, halfway out, staring at the back of a man with broad shoulders moving around in his kitchen.
or: Dexter can't bring himself to let Isaak die and opts to save him instead. Turns out it's the greatest thing he could've done.
