Or: Gatsby doesn't from the gunshot, instead he becomes entirely Nicks problem and they both have weird repressed gay feelings about it. Gatsby's caught between a woman who he's chased so far he's not quite sure how to stop and a man who will has been and always will be waiting to help him catch his breath when he finally does manage to stop all this chasing. Who likes cardio anyways?
