"Why?" Theodora demanded.
"Because, Miss Byrne, to the great sorrow of the both of us, my saving you means that you are my responsibility until another steps forward to take over that role. Should you get yourself killed out here through sheer force of foolishness, it is a stain upon my character as well as your own. Now, will you come with me, or will you force me to drag you?"

When Theodora Byrne wakes up one morning, no longer in her cozy modern bed, but adrift at sea - and on a sea that's home to pirates, both undead and living, no less - she has no choice but to rely on the charity, and the eventual kindness, of Captain James Norrington if she wants to survive. A story of love, one might say. But not these two. No, these two would say that their story was built upon death threats and late night barrelmancy negotiations, and Disintegration spells that missed and the Power Word Kill that didn't. Love was only the ambush Gortash walked into once, and Tav walked into twice.
