Summary
His mama, who had loved him through every terrible version of himself, who had never stopped answering when he called, who had never once made him question whether he was loved, was going to leave him. There was a part of him that wished she had made it easier on him. If she had broken away from him the way his father had, if she had stopped calling or stopped loving him or had given him some reason to be angry with her, maybe it would’ve been easier to deal with. Maybe the grief would've had somewhere to go.
But that wasn’t the case. She loved her son, her baby boy, and he loved her too.
Or, Dennis gets devastating news from back home (inspired by "Chinese Satellite" by Phoebe Bridgers)

Summary
After three months away, Robby comes back to Pittsburgh hoping to get back to work, get his life somewhat under control, and maybe learn how to exist outside the ER.
Things go reasonably well.
Until Whitaker and Santos' apartment becomes uninhabitable and they need somewhere to stay.
Unfortunately, Robby's house has a spare bedroom.
What starts as a temporary arrangement quickly turns into an ever-growing collection of people, hospital drama, questionable boundaries, and the uncomfortable realization that Robby might actually like having people around.
-----------------------
Or: Robby has no idea how to deal with people, Trinity has never heard the word “boundaries,” and Whitaker is mostly just trying to keep up.

Summary
“I’ve been waiting patiently, but we’re getting down to the wire here Huck.” He tilts his head in confusion while slipping out of his shoes.
“Wha-“ He starts but cuts himself short as Trinity sits up abruptly.
“Look, don’t make me beg, I won’t tell any embarrassing stories in front of your family, but if you have a spare ticket for your graduation I want to be there.”
“Oh. It’s not that I didn’t ask you. I uh, didn’t ask anybody? And my family’s not coming, not interested.”
“Not interested in your huge fucking achievement?!”
“Um, not interested in me. Full stop.”
. . .
Or the one where Trinity Santos sets her sights on wrangling the Pitt crew to make Dennis’ Med School graduation a day he will never forget
