Balor spent his whole life running away. From the responsibilities that had weighed on his shoulders since the day he was born, from the shackles his own family had put on him without any regard for his personal feelings. And lastly, from his own mistakes.
All he had longed for at first was freedom. However, he'd learned quickly that things didn't always go according to plan when a particularly fraudulent man had offered to take him under his wing and show him the opulent ways of living undercover as a merchant. Soon enough, before he even realized, greed had consumed his entire being, leading him to make an irrevocable mistake he'd deeply regret for the rest of his life. And now he had to pay for his selfishness.
Just as he had accepted his grim fate after many years of no success at finding ways to redeem himself, everything began to change after Ari entered his life.

Summary
Blame it on them having an adventurous heart, but Ari had lost all interest in pursuing anything romantic with the townsfolk the second they realized what they felt for Caldarus. The dragon was kind, helpful, and in need of them while being something powerful beyond imagining. They never had been particularly keen on the idea of worshiping any gods, but they found themself more than willing to offer their heart, body, and soul to the Guardian of Mistria.
Still, they had their pride and recognized that Caldarus was in a really fucked up place: being trapped, weakened, and an amnesiac wasn't the most stable position. They did their best to keep their less than appropriate devotion to themself, even as growing to know the dragon deeper in his bipedal form filled them with a yearning that ached to soothed. But no, he was a god and they were just the latest in a long list of devotees.
What happens when Caldarus expresses an unfulfilled hunger to and for his greatest anointed?

He was sipping his tea when she said it, oh so casually. An inopportune time because, most inelegantly, he spit it out in shock. An action unbecoming of himself.
“She did what?”The farmer thinks it's a casual thing to mention. Caldarus is very concerned.
