Summary

After much deliberating most pious nun is sent to spy and sabotage their devilish affairs. Being mute after an accident she’d rather not think about and unable to reveal her true intentions, she’s perfectly suited for the task. She expects her mission to be perilous.
She doesn’t expect to attract the attention of a certain Cardinal.
With a foot in two enemy worlds, and a heart torn between longing and loyalty, she couldn’t have imagined just how torturous this task would be.

Don’t leave me behind, she thought. Not here, not with the hollow men and sycophants who surrounded her. Elizabeth had prayed for a sign all that time ago whether she was making the right choice, and here he was in front of her, looking as though he couldn’t believe she was real.
