Summary
“Jester’s here. The wedding is off. I had a dress and this huge prank planned for Fjord, and now nobody will see either one!”
The Sending blasts through the ordered calm of Caleb’s thoughts. Veth. Her shrill delivery is flippant. The message itself is a fluffernutter: an unmitigated bombshell.

Summary
Bren knows that on reaping day he will be heavily guarded, probably even more so than usual. There will be plenty of sanitorium guards and crownsguard and Ikithon’s people, but none of that will matter. Not if he can jump straight out of the sanitorium’s clutches and into the Capitol’s. That is what he trained for, after all. To compete, to win, to bring glory and prosperity to his district. He doesn’t know if he believes in that anymore, but at least, he thinks bitterly, the Capitol might let him die.
OR
Bren Aldric Ermendrud volunteers to participate in the Hunger Games in order to escape his former teacher. He plans on dying quickly and painlessly, but in the course of the training he might just find something worth fighting for.Bookmarked by Muon_nu

Summary
“You accused me of treating this like a game. I am sorry if I’ve led you to believe that it is only a game—though I won't deny that part of it is.” Bren gives a disarming smile. “My life is either games or murder, after all.”
“Or mail fraud,” Thelyss says dryly, not even a little disarmed.
“The mail fraud is a sort of game as well.”
A sigh. “Is this your way of telling me that you intend to continue playing?”
Bren smiles again, sharper. “If you would let me.”(In which Bren Aldric Ermendrud decides to seduce the Shadowhand and finds that the best way to convince someone to be vulnerable with you is to be vulnerable in turn.)

Summary
Part of her wonders if it would be easier if she’d never been a cleric. If she’d never had any special powers that could raise the dead in the first place. Maybe she would have learned all of this sooner.
“It just feels,” Jester says, trying to put some of that into words, “like I had a power that just stopped working.”
Jester Lavorre spends a lifetime learning how to let go.
