Summary
No longer able to endure Valentino's abuse, Angel seeks out the gambling overlord, Husk, and begs him to make a bet for his soul. Husk is hesitant to help, worried about the political ramifications and public perception of such a deal.
When Husk witnesses Valentino's cruelty firsthand, he realizes he can't just abandon Angel to his fate. He goes through with Angel's request, but a regular soul contract won’t do. Instead, he binds Angel's soul to him in demonic matrimony, convincing himself that a fake relationship will keep his reputation in tact and be good for publicity.
Will their marriage remain a sham, or will their mutual attraction lead to something more?
