He endured condescension, attempts on his life that were met with no reprimand, he even endured Robin - the one thing he had left - being taken and given to Damian. He went on a trip around the goddamn world just to find Bruce after he was lost in the timestream. He cried, fought, bled, underwent medical malpractice, and still found his adopted father. All to be met with no apologies for his eldest brother's threats of Arkahm, and a request for his emancipation so Bruce wouldn't have to run Wayne Enterprises.
Tim Drake-Wayne dropped the hypenation.
He was never a Wayne, and he finally realized it.

“You wanted to be in charge,” Superboy said. Robin couldn’t see him from behind but he could certainly hear the shrug in his voice. Maybe that’s an exercise for him, trying to see how many times he can shrug “nonchalantly” in a day. Maybe he was hoping his shoulders would fill out more from the movement and he would be able to match up to Superman's one day.
The thought made Robin snicker to himself as he retorted with an eyeroll, “I’m not the ‘one-in-charge’ I’m the ‘one-who’s-supposed-to-be-here.’”
“Do you roll your eyes so much to make them stronger?” Superboy asked, “So you can find clues as easy as the big bat one day?”

In a world where Young Justice takes a bit longer to form the young heroes find themselves falling together while having a few more years' experience under their belt. They didn't set out to form a team and Robin certainly didn't anticipate how deeply he would grow to trust his friends. Superboy, although annoying, was quickly becoming one of the most important people in Tim's life. Robin was used to being prepared for anything (to an extent which could be called paranoid), but Superboy was beginning to make him reckless.

If Tim pretended hard enough, it almost felt like this could be real. That they could hang out as more than friends, and lay together; hands clasped, heads resting on shoulders, arms slung lazily around hips. It was so natural, the way they sat. If nothing ever changed, if Tim never moved on from that moment, he didn’t think he could bring himself to care.

Yet, there was a little less tension in his shoulders every time he put on a wig; it was easier to see with colored contacts, and he walked better in shoes that were not his. It was so satisfying to pretend to be someone else for a bit.
He was Timothy Drake, a son of a millionaire, and he was Red Robin. Those were the only personas he would occasionally get sick of. There wasn’t much time to be Tim, to be himself.
He’s never liked attention, and he had attention on him all the time. He works alone, and most of the Batfam aren’t a fan of him, but mainly that’s because he beats them to solving cases, and refuses to tell them anything about them. He’ll work with them when he has to, but he mostly keeps away.

Nightwing goes to say something, but Tim grapples away before he can. He lands on a nearby roof, turning on his arm gauntlet to see his open cases. Though he doesn’t get the chance to start working on any of them since another notification pings through his surveillance system. He smirks, grappling to the location. Conner Kent stands under the streetlight, his hands tucked in his pockets. He smiles upon seeing Tim. His hair is wind tussled, smile bright.

“What’re you doing here?” Tim asks, stepping forward.

“Fuck you,” Tim said through his teeth, the words tight and raw.
“I wonder what you’ll see, Red Robin,” Scarecrow said, leaning back in, just far enough that Tim couldn’t even attempt a desperate headbutt. He sounded genuinely curious, like a scientist awaiting a rare reaction.
