Summary
"Emmrich Volkarin," says the man, extending a hand to shake. She takes it. His rings are cool against her skin, and his hair does not stir in the spring breeze that shivers the ash leaves ringing the field. “A pleasure.”
—
Rook takes a break from the pressures of graduate school to attend her brother’s soccer match, and finds unlikely temptation in a parent she meets on the sidelines.

Summary
Gale’s fingers brush against something amidst the cloaks and robes; it is cold and sinuous, like the scales of a steel-clad snake. His eyes narrow as he withdraws the mysterious garment, holding it up to the flickering light of the lanterns.
“You didn’t,” he says, turning to Aoife.
“I did,” she says, and she smiles.—
When Gale and Aoife are summoned to face a monstrous foe in the frigid wastes of Frozenfar, the long-disused Wavemother’s robe bestows critical benefits in the battle - as well as a few unanticipated benefits that Gale discovers in the aftermath.

Summary
His agenda has always been clear: to be a different kind of god—a god among people, a god who responds to the ephemeral beings of Faerûn and their needs. And with the help of his friends and trusted advisors, he’s accomplishing exactly that. He has everything, can do anything, and nothing is missing except that which he will soon take.
Or: sometimes, the God of Ambition walks around Baldur’s Gate in a semblance of his human form. On one such walk, he begins to learn that he is very, very wrong about something very, very important.

Summary
Aoife stares up at the cat in the tree, then back down at the owlishly handsome stranger.
“The fire department is a municipal resource, and a precious one,” she says. “We have critical calls to attend to, you know.”The stranger looks chagrined, but she sees the spark of something in those deep brown eyes.
“Well, then, what are you doing standing around explaining that to me?”
—
Gale is a research librarian dealing with an unfulfilling job and a wretched break-up. One day his charmingly feral cat Tara gets stuck up a tree, and in a moment of panic he calls the local fire department - much to the annoyance of Aoife, the firefighter on call.
But like two celestial bodies in orbit, Gale and Aoife find themselves indescribably drawn to one another. And when there is a fire in Gale’s library and Aoife comes to his rescue, the spark of interest catches to become a brighter flame.
