“Tonight was our first true hunt together.” Hannibal made the announcement as if they’d just tied the knot. Will ground his molars, anticipating the odious question that would follow: ‘How did it make you feel?’ He was so preoccupied with readying a poisonous retort, the actual question caught him completely off-guard:
“... Are you alright?”
When Hannibal and Will learn that Clark Ingram has escaped from prison, he becomes their natural first target as newly-forged partners in crime.
Or rather, he becomes Will's first target, however much Will would like to pretend otherwise.

Summary
The scent of petroleum and rain that wafted from Hannibal was perforated by a sharp, distinctly masculine odor, entirely unrecognizable to him.
Will felt the world teeter. He turned his gaze to the floor, then to Hannibal’s jacket where it hung next to his, looking for specks of blood or any other sign of a struggle. There were none.
But that smell –
Earthy and potent, somehow familiar, though difficult to place. A locker room smell, overripe dirty laundry, stale sweat and ammonia.
While on the run, Hannibal has sex with another man to get Will's attention. It works.
