And thus, Queen Elizabeth Rose Bloodflame, the “Scarlet Queen” in question, summoned her most loyal knight and sent her to investigate.

Summary

Gigi Murin, a girl recently turned 18, has been a fan of players and dungeons ever since she was a kid, and now her time has come, to become one herself and join all the legendary players she has come to admire at the very top. She meets Cecilia, a player of similar age who just moved into the city and has a fairly different opinion of players, and the two end up paired up in their first assignment.
This is the main Story of this AU, the window used to explore most of the world, and the intended entry point. It follow's Gigi's journey while slowly exploring the cast of HoloEN. Other works in the AU are Spin-Offs in the same world, In their summary you can find how many chapters of this fic I would recommend reading before getting into them.

“Do you have something to say?” Gigi asks, her voice sharp enough to cut through the quiet.
Cecilia doesn’t flinch. Her hands remain clasped in front of her. “Nothing you don’t already know, Miss Gigi.”
Gigi’s lips twitch into a humourless smile. “If that’s the case, maybe you should stop staring.”
Cecilia doesn’t look away, but there’s something softer in her gaze now, something that brushes against the walls Gigi has so carefully built. “Forgive me,” Cecilia says, her voice low. “It’s been some time.”
The words strike a chord, but Gigi refuses to acknowledge it. She presses her fingers down on the keys, a dissonant clash of notes breaking the moment. “Seven years isn’t just some time,” she mutters.
Or, the Immergreens have served the Murin family for centuries. But when Cecilia returns to the estate after her father dies, Gigi is less than pleased.

She could not procreate, she did not have the parts one is supposed to have, she did not hunger for it, and so it was foreign to her. It was natural for her to ignore it. (A re-write of my previous fic titled "I'm not giving up, I'm just giving in" this time with a much clearer plot and plan)
50 years ago a string of highly unusual missing persons cases began in [REDACTED] National Park. These cases greatly outnumber any normal amount for such a short span of time in any other area of wilderness of similar size in the world. This coupled with other strange similarities and the gross failure and/or suspicious official statements on these cases has gotten the attention of the JUSTICE organization as a whole and theories of the cause for this phenomena include (but are not limited to) the supernatural.
Gigi and Cecilia are sent undercover as new hires for the park to investigate the situation and find answers. But can they when their forced apart for the majority of their time in the woods? And more importantly, can they avoid becoming the next victims in this half-century long pile of bodies?
