Summary
To the World, Robert Sugden is a divorced, invalided ex-RAF pilot who works somewhere high up in the National Trust. And Aaron Dingle is his handyman, driver and housekeeper who works for him at his home, Hadleigh Manor Gatehouse.
But to those that care about them the most, they are together. There's Grandmother Faith and Wartime friend Patrick for a start, both living at her Blackpool Guesthouse where Aaron was brought up. And there is best friend Adam and his wife Victoria, now running the Sugden Farm (with regular interference from father Jack).
This is a companion piece to my Wartime Robron, “Love on the Home Front”. It is set between 1945 and the 1953 Epilogue in that story. My 40s & 50s take on Robert and Aaron is a romantic work. Here the lads are solid, despite what life throws at them and their loved ones.

Summary
Sometimes the War can seem very far away. Invalided ex-RAF pilot Robert Sugden has enough on his plate. There's his estranged wife's manor house and estate to manage for a start. Plus a dozen land girls staying at the manor. But there is precious little of the male company he craves.
Then the War office makes him house a dozen young men working at the re-opened local coal mine. Not in uniform, but doing their bit for the War effort as much as anyone. And everything changes when a withdrawn, fresh-faced young miner appears for the first time. Aaron Dingle.

Summary
Robert tries to show he can be a genuine friend to someone. Rob tried to help Patrick, who was working as a nurse at Home Farm till Chrissie forced him out (thanks to his friendship with the boys). But bad luck and misunderstandings though seem to keep getting in the way.
A story about friendship and being there for people when they need you. Canon compliant (apart from the original characters) with a little stretching of timescales. This is a dialogue heavy piece, so don't be put off by the word count.

Summary
Aaron is put out at first when Robert befriends Patrick, a nurse working at Home Farm. He would have to be a mate of Rebecca's too wouldn't he! But with Rebecca thankfully out of the picture for a while abroad, Aaron is pleased when the three of them all get on and become friends. But why is Aaron the only one who can see just how on edge Patrick really is? Aaron is determined to help, despite a spiteful Chrissie trying to make trouble in the background, a rift after an unhelpful outburst from an upset Liv and a painful misunderstanding. But in the end Aaron and Robert show Rebecca how real friends act.

Summary
Robert surprises Aaron with a weekend trip to Brighton, hoping that unfamiliar surroundings will give him a well deserved break. With a bit of compromise, the lads manage to enjoy some quality time together. But the anxiety that Rob has been bottling up for too long gets to him. Aaron gets the chance to give Robert the emotional comfort he needs and Rob gets to lean on the strongest person he knows. Robert finally gets to hear some words he has been aching to hear.
