    Izuku Midoriya is unlucky, to say the least and life hasn't exactly been kind. Things weren't so bad in the beginning, but once he was diagnosed quirkless, well, it all went to shit. Everyone grew to hate him, even his best friend and own father.

    Was it really that impossible to become a hero without a quirk? It doesn't really matter because to Izuku, the term hero is flexible. He'll be his own hero because he's learnt from his own experience, people are selfish and the only one he can rely on is himself.

    Left alone to fend for himself in the world, Izuku goes out to change things on his own terms, despite his methods being slightly illegal. Keyword, slightly. It's only illegal if he gets caught, right?

    can’t believe i’ve lived 6 years of my life oblivious to the masterpiece 😭 damn this really digs deep, like DEEP into my heart.

    It’s so realistic. I’ve never read a recovery fic like this one before, where reality is, well… reality.
    Geez it made me realise I’ve never actually slowed down during my little fantasy adventures in my mind on the consequences of injuries. Sure, there’s the usual angst, hurt/comfort, and all that kind of stuff. But they never really dig into the scars. As an happy ending would promise, even after all the trauma, characters end up okay.

    Not this one. Now that I’m thinking about it, it’s common sense that OF COURSE characters (bakugo, in this case) wouldn’t be okay. Of course they wouldn’t magically heal up after a teary hug or full-stop at the end of a fic. It’s so obvious yet it has always been and will always be overlooked. Us readers and authors want the characters to recover, to be fine. It’s fantasy, after all.

    But this fic didn’t do all of that. It brought me into the life of an arrogant, competitive and determined hero AFTER he’s future was stripped away from him. It picks and highlights all the slice of life that most of us choose to disregard. Because it’s painful. It’s a painful reminder that yes, even our favourite characters, hero’s, the ones living in fantasies, may succumb to the fate of… being human. Of reality.

    That’s why is so fcking amazing. I can feel the helplessness and the frustration. it slaps you in that face without being dramatic at all (oh reality how i wish you’re not here). It doesn’t pretend everything is alright and things will fully go back to normal. (and the slice of life really really shows the point)
    ITS JUST SO REAL AND SHIT IDK HOW TO PUT IT (i hope you get what im trying to say 😭 english is not my first language)

    Well– he likes to win, actually. But a win is only worth a damn when you have to fight for it, and there’s only one person in this stupid class who actually can put up a fight against Katsuki. That’s why the guy makes a halfway decent sparring partner – Icyhot’s strong. Icyhot’s powerful. He makes every damn thing look effortless, but when Katsuki’s his opponent, he has to actually try for once.

    So then– what the hell is he supposed to do when the half and half bastard stops trying?

    Or: Bakugou and Todoroki have an arrangement to spar after school for stress relief. But when Todoroki starts looking and acting strangely, Bakugou starts to pay a little closer attention.

    wow their relationship is written SO WELL holy-
    Narrating from Bakugo pov’s got to be one of the hardest shits to pull off well, not to mention, the wordings and descriptions of different characters really embody them well (esp deku)
    it was so fun to read!! Angsty parts angsty, funny parts funny. <3
