“I know,” you whine, taking his hand and pressing his palm to your cheek, “but please, Eddie? I really want it.”
He tilts his head at you, grazing his thumb over your cheekbone with a sympathetic smile. “I know you do, honey, and you know I wanna give it to you, but Eddie’s got bills to pay, too.”
“I’ll still pay for it,” you insist. “Can’t we just…work something out?”
“Work something out, huh?” he echoes, skeptical. He’s a good actor. You’d almost think he didn’t know what you were getting at.
