When Levi finds himself ruminating on these things, he pushes it away. It is — unhelpful. Unrealistic. That kind of life is not for them. He’s never even heard of it, children with two fathers. And that’s fine, has always been fine. It wasn’t something he had even given a second thought, his entire life. He’s trying very hard not to give it a second thought now.

The moon is high in the sky. Levi does not sleep. He thinks of Mikasa’s wails, her screams, the way she had begged. He looks over at Erwin, his face soft and lax, twitching occasionally. Maybe he is dreaming. He hopes they are good ones. Levi wonders what he would look like dead.
“Please,” he whispers, careful not to wake him. He touches his hair. “Please do not let me live after you.”
