Summary
Maura goes to tie her hair back and Jane sees her balance falter and reaches for her, grasping her waist. As Maura steadies herself, Jane finds her hands slipping down to those exposed thighs. She'd always wondered if the skin there was as soft as it looked; it was even softer, somehow. Jane had sliced Maura's shin open yet it pales against the intimacy of this moment.
Jane had worn Maura's blood on her hands, on her lips, more than once. Yet watching Jane's fingers smooth over the soft peach fuzz on Maura's thighs, watching the little hairs raise on edge under Jane's fingertips had Jane wondering if they were thicker than blood.
