The Boston Raiders take Ilya to the Fort Worth Stockyards for Price’s birthday, where he discovers chaps and immediately becomes convinced they were invented for fucking. The team insists they’re for riding horses, but Ilya remains deeply skeptical. Naturally, he buys a pair and ships them to his favorite Canadian captain—because if they’re really for riding, Shane Hollander should have no problem putting them to good use.

Ilya tilts the brim down slightly.
“Something about if you take a man’s hat…” he says lazily. “He belongs to you.”
Then he looks up at Shane again.
And for a moment he just stares.
And the stupid thing is… it’s true.
Ilya belongs to him. Completely.
Not just tonight. Not just here in this ridiculous moment with the cowboy hat and the leather chaps and Shane flushed and breathless in his lap.
Always. Since the very beginning.
Since the first day Shane found him standing alone out in the parking lot. Awkward. Stubborn. Pretending he didn’t need anyone.
