Summary
They call Chuuya a beast. His anger is a sharp darkness, like horrendous creatures that gnash their teeth with fresh blood on them and whirl around their prey; his anger is a deadly whirlwind of clouds and the insatiable crackle of lightning that devours everything in flashes of bright flame.
But Dazai is a demon. He watches and laughs: it's so amusingly. Nakahara Chuuya is the embodiment of contradictions. He is everything that scares and makes Osamu laugh: a brutal contrast of a heart too soft for the Mafia and a powerful force of destruction. He is everything that makes the beast in his chest hiss and growl; he is everything that Dazai simply cannot comprehend.
Dazai thinks that, in general, the soul is a formality. A concept that has no place in the Mafia. A concept that has no place in the chest of a demon. But even if it did, it would still be a formality — and Chuuya's soul would still be warm in his palms, shivering like fire on his pale skin; it would still be an all-consuming storm.
[Soukoku is not always about perfect harmony. Sometimes they learn to understand each other; they learn to care — to give and receive it, not to gnaw like street dogs.]
