Summary
Stiles isn't sure what he was expecting as he walks onto the old Hale property, but this is definitely not it. Several bodies are strewn about the yard, clothes shredded and torn. Even with the cloud covering, threatening to downpour any second, all the blood covering the ground is easily visible against the dusting of snow from the night before. Anyone else would've lost their lunch at the sight, but after helping his dad with one too many violent cases, Stiles has become immune to it.
Though the carnage before him isn't what catches his attention. No, it's the man hunched over a few yards from the front porch, snarling as he slams another man into the ground. His skin, painted in blood, is warped and scarred, almost making him unrecognizable. But it's the bright red eyes that snap up as Stiles takes another step closer that give him away.
"Derek."

Stiles smiles back and ensures the ornament is secure on the branch he chose before turning to face Derek. "No. It still feels so surreal."
"And it was only an accident." Derek settles his hands on Stiles's hips.
"A happy accident." Something almost worthy of a Hallmark movie.

He could add his oversight about this to his long list of fuck ups, and it was realising that Charlie wasn't really calling him, hadn't actually forgiven him for ruining her dream – probably her whole life, if he wanted to be brutally honest – that had him going still when he felt power cables wrapping around his chest and pinning his arms to his sides the moment he'd stepped through his portal.
He'd been so excited. For the span of about five minutes, he'd thought he might have a chance to fix things – again. That he could grovel and apologise and explain himself, because he really had been trying to help – hadn't he?

It wasn’t part of Stiles’s plan to actually get a rental boyfriend just to experience a first date. It also wasn’t part of his plan to stumble upon Derek Hale’s page and hire him for a few hours every week. And Stiles definitely hadn't meant to actually start falling for the guy.
…or the one where Stiles hired Derek to be his boyfriend and promptly fell in love. Oops.
