    It seemed the universe had sent her a test, a riddle really. Though Harley would have frowned at the notion of being called a riddle – that was Nygma’s shtick after all.

    But Ivy couldn’t deny the whole thing was rather puzzling. For she, a metahuman known for hating humanity and its ill-bred ilk, was being coerced into playing host for perhaps the most – okay, second most – chaotic and destructive individual in this godforsaken wasteland of a city.

    It had to be some sort of joke.

    But it wasn’t.

    Because being with Harley felt like a breath of fresh air, even though Ivy regularly spent her days surrounding by oxygen-producing organisms. She felt alive around her, like she could float up to the clouds if she wanted to.

    And the more she got to know the curious jester, the more puzzling her predicament came to be. Because though she loathed people, she found herself wanting to spend time with one. But only her. Only ever her.

    It made no sense, but it felt right.

    And then one day, it did make sense. And it felt even better.
