Summary
There are few greater effects upon a human than parenthood. Biological impulse breeds fierce protectiveness, devotion, and desire to make the squalling bundle of new life have a happy existence.
Parenthood, as all the human condition does, brings out the good, evil and everything in between in Humanity. Many are not up to the task. Many are.
And many re-learn how to be human.
In this universe, a Man regains his humanity through the recollection of Parenthood. It just so happens He is the most powerful Man of all.

Summary
Through a series of fortunate and unfortunate events, the Emperor keeps the gentler parts of his humanity, and the galaxy is changed for it.
Comfort food for the author, this series explores a Warhammer universe where the Emperor's serious trauma from the near total-collapse of humanity over five thousand years doesn't turn him into a bad dad and genocidal MOR-ON. The Primarch's brotherhood is true, the second and eleventh remain, and the many species of the milky way are not doomed to death by the Aquila.
Victory is not guaranteed. Defeat a grave possibility. But the Emperor is a good dad, and that counts for more than the Chaos Gods think.
