Summary
Nicholas never wanted to be a soldier.
He was content with being a blacksmith his whole life, just like his father had. But when a group of Royal guardsmen arrived on horseback with a scroll that decreed that every family must admit one man to war to help fight the coming battle, well, Nicholas couldn’t send his father.
Euijoo doesn't want this life.
He spent his days in his room reading and analyzing artifacts and ancient Kaolin technology, which is how he liked it. His father disapproved of it, he was the prince after all so it made sense that his father would want him to focus on his duties as the crown prince. His sister Is the sage of the goddesses, as most daughters of the kingdom are, but with each failure to commune with the goddesses she grows anxious.
With the rise of monsters and dark magic in a world where the connection to the goddesses is dying, they struggle to call upon their goddesses for help. The Prince and the Knight discover their own ways to help.

“Nichol! when we get back to the city, d’ya wanna keep in touch?” Euijoo asked over the edge of the canoes they were stacking.
Nicholas shrugged “sure why not” he mumbled and looked up in time to see the toothy grin splitting Euijoos round tan face.
there it was again, his heart jack hammering and the sun warming his skin too much.
“great give me your phone!” he put his dainty palm out and Nicho unlocked and dropped his phone in his hand.
He watched with a smile as Euijoo put his contact in and looked up at him happily, he felt that hot summer heat radiating inside of him and felt panic rise as he realized.

Euijoo froze. “...I’m sorry?”
“Which kids do you think are scared of Nicholas? Did any of them mention something to you?”
“It’s not that they mentioned anything per se.”
“Are any of them acting differently around him?”
“Well… no.”
Fuma blinked a few times, waiting for Euijoo to elaborate or offer up some sort of actual explanation then. He didn’t – just stood there with his arms crossed too tightly across his chest to be casual, one of his hike-worn sneakers thumping an offbeat rhythm against the wooden floor.
Fuma’s eyebrows pulled together slowly. “Then I don’t follow.”
“Fine, it’s me, okay? He scares me.”
