Summary

The prince narrowed his eyes at He Xuan and smiled again. “Tell you what. I’ll be your friend too! What’s your name? I’m Shi Qingxuan.”

The air was cold and tasted like sea salt. This human made him feel warm. The sand welled with water under his feet. He Xuan walked into the sea, meeting Shi Qingxuan in the water. The bone serpents swarmed him, bumping their snouts into his knees until he acknowledged them with pets.
The prince gave him a curious look, accentuated by the moonlight bouncing off his face. It smoothed over into a bright grin, rivaling the light thrown off the sea, and Shi Qingxuan stuck out a hand. “Well. It’s nice to meet you, Ming-xiong!”
Or; He Xuan comes to understand why the mers that walk on land often don't return.
