Kate has just finished the penultimate show of her yearlong tour, and has one more performance to go before the tour is over, and she can get onto her plane, fly to Hawaii and to the woman waiting for her.

“No, oh my god,” Lucy interrupts, “it’s actually kind of huge for my ego.” She grins, her own nerves seemingly flying out the window now. “Hollywood starlet Kate Whistler kissed me before she kissed any of those weird boys on that sitcom you were on when I was in high school.” The joke has Kate blushing, so bright and sweet that Lucy feels it tug on her heart.
“None of the boys on set count,” Kate replies, “not really.”
