Korekiyo's hands protested loudly in pain, and his ribs ached, but for the first time in years, he finally felt like he had peace. Her voice - and most importantly, her presence - was gone, and for the first time in his life, all he was left with was the sounds of his hushed sobs and the slowly fading static in his brain. After all the dark that drowned him, it was such a despairingly light feeling that he couldn't help laughing through the tears. All of his pain and suffering, all those forgotten and repressed years and those horrid memories nipping at his heels - gone along with most of his hair.
