The end of the world shouldn’t be like this. It should be ending with a loud bang or a big, sad wave of applause.
Not like this.
Scattered military bases across a small, rather apocalyptic town, red flashed ground, rain smelling of acid and puke. The scene could remind one of a very bad horror movie, filmed in the sixties on a really, really low budget.But it’s reality, the reality William Byers has started to be fine with.
Well at least trying to be fine with. The raw apocalypse has started to seem way more soothing than attending high school under the circumstances. If will Byers was normal, maybe things would be different, easier and he could pack up and leave the government to the work. But unfortunately this wasn’t the case.(This fic is an alternative for season five & for that awful ending we got. Since the duffers can’t write shit I’m taking matters into my own hands and create you guys the most heartbreaking, gut wrenching and touching story YOU’VE EVER WITNESSED)
PS: if this magically goes viral I will animate the story over the next years ;)

Fuck. That was not a good thing to say. Stop deflecting, Micheal. You’re the one instigating things.
Will just stared at him, unresponsive. Then, he turned away, directing his attention to a different box.
Mike crumbled, again; Everything softened: his posture, attitude, and his tone. “Will- I’m sorry.. It seems like all I'm doing is being an asshole.. I should’ve told you, and everyone.. Like I made you do- I realise now that it is not at all a good position to be in..”
He sucked in a breath. “It’s just.. I’m scared- and I don't know what to do this time”

Summary
Will struggles with his new powers and his growing role in the defeat of Vecna. Mike struggles with his growing feelings for his best friend.
In the Upside Down, the group has to decide whether or not to play it safe and escape, or continue the chase of the demogorgon and Hopper's search for Vecna, while protecting a new member who might just be the key to finally putting an end to all of this.
